Promoting Excellence in Childcare — Introducing Our Maternity Nanny Training Course

At Project Action London, we believe deeply in the value of transferable skills — the real, lived expertise that shapes exceptional childcare practice. Throughout my 40‑year career, I’ve seen how these skills elevate standards, strengthen families, and create confident practitioners. Yet in our sector, experience isn’t always recognised in the way it should be. Too often, the focus falls solely on qualifications rather than the depth of knowledge someone brings.
My own journey reflects this. What began as a teenage decision to pursue the respected NNEB qualification grew into a lifelong vocation rooted in supporting children, families, and the professionals who care for them. Over the decades, I have worked as a hands‑on nanny, nursery manager, agency owner, trainer, and teacher — each role shaping the mentor and educator I am today.
After starting my own family, I founded a nanny agency that I successfully ran for more than twenty‑five years. This allowed me to combine practical experience with leadership, supporting hundreds of nannies and families. During this time, I recognised a growing need for structured, high‑quality training. Many childcare professionals wanted to develop their skills but lacked accessible, relevant options. This led me to create a training programme designed specifically to support nannies in meeting the 6 Common Core Skills required by Ofsted — a programme that became the first nanny training course endorsed by CACHE, a milestone that remains one of my proudest achievements.
Most recently, I gained my Level 3 Assessor qualification, further strengthening my ability to support learners through structured assessment, guidance, and feedback.
All of this experience has shaped the creation of our newest programme: the Maternity Nanny Training Course (distinct from a maternity nurse). This comprehensive course is designed for nursery practitioners, teachers, healthcare professionals, nannies, and even parents — enabling them to build on the skills they already have and take them a step further. The aim is simple: to support new mums and families through those precious early days, weeks, and months.
Many new parents do not have family nearby, and many have little or no experience with newborns. A maternity nanny provides reassurance, knowledge, and practical support — recognising when something may need professional attention, while never crossing into medical territory. It is about enabling, guiding, and helping families lay the foundations as they welcome a new baby into their lives.
At Project Action London, we celebrate the depth of experience people bring — backed by formal training, lived practice, and a genuine understanding of what families need. Our Maternity Nanny Training Course is the culmination of a lifetime of learning, dedication, and passion for raising standards in childcare.
I am proud to share this programme with you, and I look forward to supporting the next generation of professionals who will make a meaningful difference to families at such a special time in their lives.
