Is there a time limit on subscribing to the Update service ?

There is no maximum time  on how long you can stay subscribed to the DBS Update Service. As long as you keep renewing your subscription each year, you can remain continuously subscribed and this is financially wise and helps you when applying for jobs when you have an enhanced DBS. I know as I make sure I follow this method.

A few key points:

The subscription lasts 12 months at a time

  • You can choose automatic renewal or renew manually before it expires- the method I prefer

  • If your subscription expires and you do not renew it in time, you cannot simply restart the same subscription. You would normally need to obtain a new DBS certificate and then register that certificate with the Update Service.

  • The service currently costs £16 per year

Many people mistakenly believe DBS certificates themselves expire. They don't. A DBS certificate is a snapshot of information on the date it was issued, while the Update Service provides ongoing monitoring and status checks which employers want to see that your details and information is up to date.

  • Project Action is able to verify your ID for the DBS £10.00

  • Civil and Corporate will carry out the rest of the procedure to go to through all the searches £64.00.

  • Once this is complete you are advised to go on the update service £16.00.

Total cost £90.00 including the update service.
